Welcome. What you are witnessing here is my writing in its infancy. This is my first time having a blog, ever. I decided to blog about my very first attempt at writing a book. Basically, I want to look back when im further along, and be able to see how far I have come.

I have toyed around with writing for years. I even found a writing pad from 2001 where I had written several songs. That pad actually came in handy when I decided to write my book. I have one character who is a poet. One of my songs about marriage translated quite nicely into a poem.

Believe it or not, that writing pad is one of the things that solidified in my mind that I was finally on my right path. See, I have moved so many times since 2001. I have lost many things in all those moves, and thrown others away. The pad somehow is one of the few things that I owned back then that I still own. I don’t remember a conscious effort being made to keep it around. But it somehow survived, and was actually usable.

That may seem like a small thing, but it was huge in my eyes. When I was writing my character, I had no intentions of making him a poet. One day, he just became a poet. My storyline hit a roadblock because I thought I was going to have to write original work for him for one scene. For whatever reason I was rummaging through my suitcase, and out popped the writing pad with my songs on it. Even better, the exact song/page that I needed was already folded back because I had never finished it. I had always meant to, but never got around to it. To me that was a sign. Get back to writing. So I did.
